Thunder echoed through the mountains, lightning flashing through the rain, sending flashes of purple across the sky. The storm was getting worse but there was no time to stop, and nowhere to stop for the seven cats, moving amoung the rocks. 'We have to move faster! If the rain gets any worse, we could be facing a flood through here!' Skyrose yowled through the blistering wind.
Berryfrost yowled her agreement looking quickly around the rocky gorge. The heavy rain was blocking any sight of anything and all seven cats could feel a sense of loss and dismay as a huge crack echoed up ahead. 'Over There! Up the top of those rocks!' Blazingheart's cry split through the rain as the thundering echo of rushing water echoed up ahead, growing louder by the heartbeat.
Another crack of lightning and crash of thunder echoed through the valley as Crowfur pelted past the cat and leapt onto one of the rocksthat would lead them up. 'This way!' Not waiting for anything, the remaining six pelted forward towards Crowfur's rock path towards Blazingheart's cave just as the roar of oncoming water grew louder and turned around the corner, rushing straight for the seven cats.
Crowfur looked franticly around, leaping up two more rocks, Blazingheart and Bulletpaw right behind him. Songfire's claws scraped against the rock as she pulled herself onto the rock where the others were gathered, leaning back to launch Dreampaw, who was still slightly too small to get up onto the rock. 'Move Quickly! The water's rising!' Skyrose yowled, leaping up after the others, always one rock behind.
Diving ahead of Crowfur, Berryfrost leapt onto the next rock, Bulletpaw right behind her as the crashing thunder echoed even louder than before. They were coming to a dead end as Songfire leapt up a few more rocks, ahead of them, the water rising quickly up through the valley. 'Songfire!' Blazingheart's yowl echoed through the rain as a strike of lightning struck the dying tree between the rock that Songfire was almost up to. The ginger she-cat gave a yowl of fright as the tree came crashing over, knocking her from the rocks and further up the stream.
Looking around franticly, Skyrose gave a growl and leapt in a different direction, upstream towards where the thunderclan she-cat was falling. Her paws moved quickly and swiftly along the rocks, her riverclan blood helping her move across the wet rocks. 'Skyrose!' Crowfur's yowl was barely heard as the tabby andf white she-cat moved quickly forward along the crash water.
'Keep moving!' Berryfrost squealed, giving Dreampaw a lift onto the next rock As songfire went falling towards the water. Skyrose looked around quicklybefore lunging forward, catching Songfire's flask in her maw and with strength that no one ever saw within her, the young she gave a groan and almost threw Songfire back onto the next layer of rocks before she fell into the crashing wave.
Songfire watched Skyrose in horror as the other cats reached the cliff edge, all apart from Crowfur. The black tom brushed past Songfire before leaping into the water after Skyrose. Although he wasn't a riverclan cat he could still swim. ' Get to the cave Songfire!' he yowled before diving under the wave, grabbing the tabby she-cat's flask and bringing her back to the surface, dragging the unconious she-cat onto the rocks, gasping for air as the ginger she-cat moved quickly up the rocks, still watching Crowfur begin to carry Skyrose up the rocks.
Blazingheart lead the other catsm into the cave, panting slightly as another roar of the rushing water below echoed through the valley. Songfire padded quickly into the cave, followed by crowfur, still carrying Skyrose. letting her fall onto the moss of the cave, he pushed her chest with his paw till she came sputtering back to reality. all seven cats were drenched as Songfire moved over to Skyrose, pressing her muzzle against the she-cat's in thanks. ' Why did you do that?' Songfire asked quietly, not being her normal self. 'Because I can't let anyone that Crowfur loves die,' Skyrose mewed weakly, lifting her head and smiling softly at Songfire as the seven cats all looked out into the storm.
