OOC: I'm gathering that's you then, Willow? Haha, okay then. I'll get the thread started.
IC:
Violet optics flickered open as dawn's early light dappled the medicine cat's light tan tabby pelt. The she cat yawned, and stretched, unsheating her long claws, and opening her jaws wide to reveal rows of glinting sharp as needles white teeth. Heatherstorm padded over to the entrance to the cave where the medicine cat's den was situated, and gazed out at the unmoving camp. It seemed as if she was the only one up. But then again, Heatherstorm always had been an early riser. It's just as well...The apprentice's only cause trouble for me, and the warriors treat me like some sort of kit that can't take care of it's self. I'm not a scrap of fur! Heatherstorm promptly decided that it was time to wake her apprentice for training, because if Heatherstorm started Frostpaw's training early enough, there could be time to get something done before the camp began to stir. Continueing to gaze out at the unmoving camp, Heatherstorm meowed cooly, Frostpaw? Wake up! Time for training.

Frostpaw poked his head up from his nest, blinking away the sleep. How early is it? he asked himself as he pushed himself upright. Judging by the cool breeze coming from the entrance of the den, it was just past dawn. The groggy apprentice shook the moss from his fur and gave a wide yawn as he stretched his limbs. He grumbled to himself as he padded slowly to Heatherstorm's side. "Wha-?" he mused. "We're going out now? The sun's just now peeking over the horizon." Frostpaw's tone was soft, but hinted that he was annoyed by his mentor's early bird routine.

You'll do as I say. Heatherstorm meowed cooly, sweeping her long tan tail over her paws and narrowing her violet orbs. We'll train in here until the warriors and apprentice's come gallumping around and disturb my concentration. Then we can go into the forest. Stop complaining. My mentor took me out in the middle of the night because she claimed it was best to find herbs by moonlight. Heatherstorm fixed Frostpaw with a look that plainly said, "suck it up, that's life." Okay, so today we're going to go over a couple of simple herbs in here, and then later you can go out and look for them with me. I'll show you the best places to go. Since you're like, new at this, we need to start with the simplest herbs, for the simplest illnesses.

Frostpaw blinked sleepily, "Ok." He stood and gave another massive yawn before shaking his head to set aside his sleepiness. He looked at his mentor with a curious stare, but quickly turned back to gazing out the den's entrance. Why is she so grumpy this morning? She doesn't seem to even want an apprentice... The white tom gave his chest a few licks and cleaned his paws. "What first?

Heatherstorm blinked, slightly surprised by her apprentice's sudden cooperation. She was pleased that Frostpaw was being this easy to deal with this morning, as she didn't even particularly want an apprentice. She just needed to train the next medicine cat so when she died, there would be someone responsible to take over. When she chose Frostpaw as her apprentice, he seemed to be the most thoughtful and patient of the bunch, and someone who could deal with her general icy tempermant. Not many cats could. Heatherstorm sighed, and nodded. Okay, so I'll show you a herb and tell you what it's used for, and you can tell me the name of the herb. Okay? She didn't wait for a response. Heatherstorm padded towards one of the cracks in the cave walls and pulled out an herb, laying it at Frostpaw's feet. The flowers were bright yellow, and it smelled nice. This is used to treat infection and heal wounds. She meowed dryly. Do you know what it's called?

Frostpaw's eyes grew bright. He knew this one. "That's easy, it's marigold." He sat a bit taller, feeling like he knew these herbs like the back of his paw.
OOC: Yeah. It's short. My muse has taken a vacation.

Frostpaw immediately replied "They're for stopping bloodflow and holding splints to legs and such." He looked at his mentor with an expression that screamed 'bring it on'. He had been studying and it showed. The white tom brimmed with happiness and lashed his tail about the leafy floor.

Good. The reason we use cobwebs and not leaves or cotton is because the cobwebs soak up the blood and stick to the peltage around the wound. She pushed a leaf covered in a glistening pool of golden sticky liquid out in front of her. This is used to help swallow nasty herbs and is used for sore throats. It's sweet, and tasty...

Frostpaw licked his lips, savouring the warm memory of his kithood. His mother would sometimes try to sneak her kits some honey. He blinked happily and mewed to Heatherstorm, "That's honey."

Good! Heatherstorm meowed, impressed by her apprentice's progress and knowledge of herbs and remedies. Perhaps it wouldn't be so horrible training Frostpaw after all; he had natural talent. Heatherstorm twisted her muzzle arround the entrance to the den. Several warriors were up, taking their apprentice's out to train. Okay, I think you're ready to go collect some now, she meowed quickly to her apprentice. I'll show you some of the best places to find herbs.
OOC: I'll make the thread tomorrow.
