Silkstar's lithe, small shape padded quickly up the steep slope. The ground became more and more barren, and as she climbed, she made sure her pads were not punctured by the small, sharp pieces of stone scattered across the ground. Her silvery body passed a small clump of brambles; this signified that the almost invisible edge of the cliff was near. She slowed and stopped as she arrived to the large cluster of flat boulders, tensing her muscles and springing to the highest, flattest, and largest stone. She looked out from the edge; there was half of HeatherClan territory at the base of the cliff. After that, BrookClan and ForestClan's property spread out across the plains. Past them were extending farms and random crops, going farther than the feline eye could see. She wrapped her long tail around her dainty paws and sighed. Where was that apprentice? It was sunhigh; he should be here by now.

Firepaw.
'Greeting's Silkstar,' The large ginger apprentice meowed, coming out of some nearby bramble, bowing respectfully to the leader, his amber gaze never leaving the leader as he moved across the barren land. His heavy large paws left small clouds of dust in his wake as he leapt onto a rock near Silkstar's so he could see a fair amount of the land around him.[/blockquote]

Silkstar smiled. You came, thank StarClan! I was starting to think you'd been eaten by a badger. She chuckled, her tinkling laugh echoing strangely. Then her expression became serious again. Okay. Obviously, you have an assessment today. I'm going to let you choose if you want to hunt along the moor side of our territory or the woodland. She looked at the ginger apprentice, waiting for his decision.

Firepaw gave a small chuckle, nodding to the leaders words as he tried to decide but, choosing his better territory he gave a flick of his tail towards the woodlands. 'The woodland side would be prefered,' he mewed politly, his amber eyes driftly briefly from the leader to across the rocks. The ginger tom got lightly to his paws, taking another glance around the clearing before giving a deep sigh.

Silkstar nodded. That would be fine. She glanced over the cliff and turned to Firepaw. All right, so you can go now. I'll give you a head start and follow you after a while. Her eyes twinkled; she loved assessing apprentices. It just gave her a rush of joy that new warriors would be added to the Clan. She swished her tail along the rock and pointed with her nose down the steep hill that they had come from. As you know, follow that path and swerve to the right a the bottom...walk for a while; the forest should be at your left... she shrugged. Obviously he knew all of this; she had no idea why she had explained the directions to him.

The apprentice nodded, but was slightly offended when his mentor explained to him the territory which he clearly knew like the back of his paw. Oh well. Firepaw blinked with understanding, knowing the best places to hunt this season. The ginger tom quickly bounded away into the sparse cover of the tall grass.
He paused momentarily to check the direction of the wind. Noting to himself that the wind was coming up past the stream, he headed directly toward it. There was bound to be a vole by the water.
