Mirrorpaw sighed. You can, Oakpaw. You could at least try. I know you could be an amazing cat if you just listened to me. She approached him slowly, and touched her tail to his shoulder. I just know it. [/center]

Oakpaw turned away from her touch and the mouse scurried off. "It doesnt matter anyway....." he mumbled quietly. His tail swished on the ground slowly sticking to loose pieces of grass.

Mirrorpaw sighed yet again. Yes, Oakpaw. It does. It really does. Her eyes were soft in compassion. Please, tell me.

Oakpaw. Maybe if you tried, you could be a great warrior. And I mean it. I believe in you, Oakpaw. She touched her nose to his ear, the universal symbol of affection.

Mirrorpaw urged the cat, Yes, there is! You know there is. You can be great, even legendary, I know it! And your mother...she would be proud. Her mew dissolved into a solemn purr.

Mirrorpaw looked down. She knew a reason for Oakpaw to live....but no. She was a medicine cat. But he needed her. For strength and to be happier. She sighed. Her choice was made. Provided Oakpaw could keep a secret. You could live...for me.

Oakpaw's eyes widened and he looked up at her confusion clouded his face. "W...what?" he asked slowly and quietly. His heart seiced its regular thumping for a second but continued soon. His breathing was more quiet then before and it seemed as if the whole world stood still.

Mirrorpaw blinked. Oakpaw, you know what I mean. Tentatively, she approached him. Slowly. Delicately. Daintily. She touched noses with him, and buried her muzzle into his fur. Oakpaw...you have a reason to live, no matter what. And now, you have a good one.

Oakpaw stood frozen for a minute longer then burried his muzzle in her fur. He whispered lightly in her ear "Thank you...".

Mirrorpaw's eyes twinkled. She breathed softly, You're welcome, Oakpaw. She pulled away for a second, staring into his eyes.

Oakpaw stared straight back into her eyes but looked away sadly when he remembered her rank, medicine cat apprentice.I finally speaks to someone and she's the medicine cat apprentice he thought angrily.

Mirrorpaw knew what Oakpaw was thinking when he pulled away. She touched her nose to his ear. It's okay, Oakpaw. We'll find a way. Somehow. Her eyes were still sparkling. Because she knew, just knew, that they'd find a way.
