The small, white-and-tan tabby shape padded slowly in the ravine between the hills, leaf-green optics blinking in the warm sunlight. Light steps were made on dainty paws, and she sighed with relief as she looked up into the cloudless sky. Thank DreamClan--leaf-bare was over. Newleaf had come. She smiled faintly. No more greencough or whitecough, no more colds - unless cats had allergies - and best of all, no more starving. HeatherClan had had the least food throughout leafbare since their territory was mostly wild, unlike the other Clans, which had pastures in their territories. Pastures were the favorite hiding place for mice.
She shrugged to herself and continued onwards, yawning slightly. She was supposed to be collecting poppies for Ambergaze, but she'd slacked off. Mirrorpaw figured she could get the seeds on the way back to camp; besides, she knew where the clump was.

The day was fresh and bright, with only a few traces of the previous moon's cold still hanging in the soft breeze. The sun, unhindered by clouds, danced off the sleek, silver and white fur of a cat who moved softly through the grass. Shimmer was enjoying the light and the way it reflected off her coat. Her smoky blue eyes danced with serenity as the grasses brushed her sides and the gentle wind ruffled her whiskers. She wasn't above enjoying a pleasant walk on a thoroughly nice day. Whoever I kill will remember this day as their last, she thought with a low purr. Her orbs narrowed almost imperceptibly and grew very clearly colder.
She craved a fight, the adrenaline rush and the pounding need for though and quick movement. She loved the challenge and the danger, the thrill and exertion. Even more, she wanted the sense of power that came with a single, final blow - she wanted to kill, end a life. Her whiskers were forward and she opened her mouth to taste the air. She had to find a feline first, locate her victim. In the warming spring air, she could tell that a cat was out in the meadow, a female and alone. Perfect. She often preferred males because of how fun it was to make them fall in love with her, but right now she wasn't in the mood to pretend. She wanted to kill and soon.
