Birchstar lept onto the rock that provided a bridge across the brook. It was time for a ceremony. Although Birchstar had had her doubts, she knew Luna would make a good loyal warrior to BrookClan. I expect great things from her. All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the high rock for a clan meeting.

Moonfoot padded into camp as she heard Birchstar give the summons for a meeting. She dropped the little fresh-kill she'd caught on the pile and then went to sit near the Highrock. The hot weather made the prey keep to their burrows more these days. Moonfoot could sympathize. Staying under cover sounded quite nice. She shook her head and turned her thoughts to the meeting. At least this was something the cats would want to come out of their dens for.

Moonhawk padded gracefully, one paw gently in front of another up next to Moonfoot. She dipped her head and smiled, though sat down a little distance away from her. She heard recently heard of the cat Luna, seeing her once. Moonhawk suspected that Birchstar may be giving the cat her warrior name. Another cat among the rankings of BrookClan. hopefully, Luna's name wouldn't begin with 'Moon'. What a trouble that would be! Three Moons in one clan! Birchstar looks so dignified up there. So wise... Is that why I look up to her? It is Almost like we're identical. We are both wise, and I guess that must be why I see her almost as a mother to me. Moonhawk thought, but the thought of her mother brought tears to hr eyes. Her mother had passed away last leaf-bare, taken victim to some unknown desease. Her elder age never could've supported it. Mother Nyra, I am always Coryn to you, and you are my life... I will make you proud. Moonhawk continued gazing up at Birchstar, waiting for her to begin speaking.

Rosepaw stopped sorting through the herbs as she heard her leader call the ceremonial words. She set down the burdock root she had been holding and padded out into the clearing where some of the cats were starting to gather. As she stepped through the crowd to get a better view of the ceremony, she spotted the deputy, Moonfoot, sitting down where she had wanted to sit. Oh, well. That's okay. I'll just go sit by her. I don't associate with her much, but she seems friendly. She stalked up the the available spot next to the BrookClan deputy and placed herself on the hard earth. "Hello, Moonfoot. How's prey?" she meowed.

OOC: What season is it? 'Cause I heard we're supposed to mention how it hasn't rained that much, and how dry it is, but if it's leaf-bare, that wouldn't be very unusual. Unless it was a warm leaf-bare with no rain...so yeah, I'm just wondering, lol.
IC: Moonfoot gave a return smile to Moonhawk, and then swung her head to see Rosepaw, the medicine cat apprentice, approach her.
"Hello Moonfoot. How's prey?"[/b]
At Rosepaw's words, Moonfoot nodded and meowed, "Greetings, Rosepaw. Ah, the prey's going well for now, I suppose. Although, I'd like to see a little more of it." She hoped there would be more soon. It could only get worse when leaf-bare came/progressed.

"Well, I'm sure DreamClan will see us through. They always have." she replied, warmly. She turned her head to look up at her leader. She couldn't believe how authoritive she sounded when speaking to Moonfoot. She felt like a true medicine cat apprentice. She had faith in DreamClan, no matter how awful the conditions were. She knew they would see BrookClan through. As she heard more pawsteps behind her, she wondered what this ceremony was about. Probably an apprentice being made into a warrior or a kit being made an apprentice. she thought to herself, pointing out the obvious.

Sitting beneath the leader, whose name Luna had learned - Birchstar, the young she-cat watched apprehensively as cats gathered. There were so many felines it made the loner shiver, her eyes wide. She hardly remembered this quantity from when she was little, and didn't understand how the cats could stand it. A pair or three-sum was the ideal group for the 10-moon feline, not such a crowd. She flicked her tail anxiously, trying to stop herself from crouching down to hide from curious looks. Her ears were flicked sideways a bit, showing that she was wondering what to make of the happenings. It was all so new, so alien, to her. It made her heartbeat painfully strong and her bones ache to see her beloved father. She looked up at the sky, where DreamClan made their home, hoping to feel better. But no stars were out during the day, and it only left her feeling even more scared and lonely. She was far from alone, and yet the pang of being isolated was strong within her. She wanted to skip this whole ceremony...
Suddenly, as she contemplated the formalities to come, she wondered whether they would change her name. The idea struck her as wrong, violently so, and she wanted desperately to ask Birchstar not to even mention such a thing. But the leader was surely going to give her an apprentice name - the ones that end it paw - and she didn't want to say goodbye to her identity. That would be too terrible for words. Luna summed her up, explained her so well. It would be like loosing even more. All she had left was her Clan and her name. Would she have to pick between the two? Her pale green orbs, soft and harmless in hue, widened within her light blue-gray features. She nearly started trembling with fear. Luna, Luna, Luna she repeated in her mind. She wouldn't let it go. Perhaps she had been Lunarkit once, but she was Luna now. Nothing else, or she would be someone else.
ooc: By the way, I'd like for her to be an apprentice for just a couple moons. Also, can Birchstar try to give her a new name and she has to refuse in front of the whole Clan and thinks that they'll kick her out and all? For some drama?

Moonhawk looked deep at Luna's face. Slowly, she inched towards the loner cat. She smiled warmly. "Luna, I know little about you, but nobody can doubt you have tinge of fear scent, mixed with worry coming off of you... Many say I have a natural sense for these things...." Moonhawk whispered. "Would you like to talk about it before the ceremony?"

Flowingbrook's silvery shape padded next to Luna--her new 'friend'. The she-cat was rather kind, and proved to be bright during their exploration of the territory. She seemed like a very loyal cat, considering she had barely ever lived in a Clan before, and agreeable too. Flowingbrook was sure she'd comply well with the othe rcats in the Clan--ifthey accepted her. Of course they will! Stop thinking like that! she scolded herself. Birchstar was kind yet rather old-fashioned--and the cats would surely obey her without a second thought. After all, she did lead BrookClan.
Flowingbrook pushed her thoughts to the edge of her mind and glanced at Luna. The pale she-cat seemed tense and a bit afraid, and the fear-scent and extreme worry, nervousness, and anxiety radiating off of her was extremely noticeable. The slender gray she-cat opened her jaws to ask Luna what was wrong, but Moonhawk beat her to it. Her Clanmate was offering to talk about what was bothering the loner before the ceremony, and Flowingbrook closed her mouth, glancing at her newfound possible friend as she waited for Luna's answer.

Spiritfeather stared at her leader half focusing half not. It was hard for her mind not to wander during times like these but for once she resisted. Instead her gaze flickered between her leader and Luna. Her calm blue orbs taking everything in. Her ears strained to listen and she was tense. Waiting for Luna's answer.

Luna quickly realized that at this point everyone was watching her. She didn't mind Flowingbrook's gaze because she knew that soon-to-be Clanmate. But the others, though they seemed welcoming and kind, overwhelmed her. She shifted her weight from paw to paw, her pale eyes flitting nervously from face to face. There were too many cats here, and it was making her beyond tense. "Too soon is this ceremony to come for any conversation, and talking is nearly too much for my nerves." Her smile was worried and apologetic, and she was slipping into nearly incoherent phrases that only other loners in old fashioned families would understand with any ease. She drew a shaky breath and looked up towards Birchstar. She wished that her faded gray-blue fur, just barely accented with plain little bits of a hardly noticeable cream, could help her slip in like it usually did, but this whole crowd seemed intent on watching her every move.

Birchstar cleared her throat briefly and began to speak the not so familiar words, but with just as much confidence were it any other cat. She had decided over night that Luna was still too young to be a warrior and that she should have proper training. Therefore, Birchstar had decided to put her as an apprentice for a moon or so, and to see how she coped within the clan before giving the former loner her warrior name. An unsual thing has happened today, she began, her voice ringing. A loner trespassed across our lands, but she was not unfriendly; merely seeking shelter and home. A stranger to the warrior code but not to StarClan, Luna has proven herself to be a loyal member of BrookClan. Therefore, she has earned her place as an apprentice of BrookClan. My mentor Lakeleaf taught me well, and I will mentor Lunapaw in her turn. I am proud to be the mentor of such a loyal cat. Birchstar dipped her head, and gently whispered in the young cats ear, I am quite proud to have you as my apprentice.

Moonhawk smiled, placing her tail over Lunapaw's shoulder. "Do not tell me anything you feel uncomfortable with knowing. You will be a good cat in this clan." Moonhawk smiled and stood up. She whispered, "Go up to Birchstar and touch noses with her." "Lunapaw! Lunapaw!" Moonhawk yowled with encouragement.
