Coming up to the noise of the waterfall, Nicolae looked back at Willow again. Every so often he would get some visitors but he'd never personally invited someone to his territory before. He grinned and turned back around, springing forward to start a run. "Come on!" He threw the words over his shoulder as he disappeared behind the undergrowth. His pawsteps were quick and light and in next to no time at all the crashing sound of cascading water was all around him. He skidded to a halt, looking up at the glimmering waterfall. It fell in clean, crystal blue sheets of water, falling to the bottom in a whorl of foamy clouds. It was a beautiful sight and Nicolae loved it. He hoped Willow was behind him to see the same thing. His territory was just a few foxlengths to the left. You crossed a little stream running off from the waterfall and there you were. But before he took Willow there, he wanted her to see the waterfall in case she already hadn't.

Willow leaped after Nicolae. When they came upon the waterfall, she was baffled at the sight of the rushing water, swiftly flowing into the pool below. "Oh, Nicolae! It's beautiful! You LIVE here?" she meowed, astonished that a cat could find such a magnificent place. She felt that this was a very peaceful, serene spot. And she couldn't think of any other spot she'd like to be in with Nicolae. She could tell he felt some attraction to her by the way he always studdered when he spoke. She tried to contain her excitement as long as she could, but it would not be easy. She wanted to come out and tell Nicolae everything she felt about him right then and there, but she knew that would be impossible. She could not tell him anything until she thought he felt the same. What if he DOES feel the same? You're overlooking THAT part of the situation. Yes, you feel strongly about him, but how are you so certain he doesn't feel that way about you? He brought you here, didn't he? She couldn't help but not argue with the voice in her head. She knew he was attracted to her by the way he acted around her. Why won't he just tell me, then? Is he scared, like me? she thought to herself, trying to make it look like she wasn't thinking so hard.

OOC: What'choo talkin' 'bout, Nicolae stuttering? I think you're hallucinating, how about that? XD
IC: At Willow's exclamation, Nicolae purred. "No, I don't live here exactly. My territory is just off to the left, across a little stream. But I like it here. It's a great place to think... When I'm thinking, that is." He added with a flick of his ear. The tawny loner stepped forward a few mouse-lengths and lapped up a bit of the water. It was icy cold, and he shuddered, wiping his tongue around his mouth as he drew back. "As much as this view is just..perfect, we should probably make our way to the 'Copse', which is what I call my little home. The best little home in the world." The sun was sinking in the sky, making the clouds purple and red, rapidly changing to an indigo, and maroon. The sun was a fiery golden, its last tendrils of light brightening a few streaks of sky, and shining into Nicolae's own gold-green eyes so they glowed. He flicked his tail on Willow's shoulder, and was off again. He thought about that look he'd seen in Willow's eye. It was a very concentrated look, and he wondered what she was thinking about...

OOC: I think you know what I'm talking about, punk! ;D
"Great! ...let's go..." Willow tried to get the words out of her mouth as clearly as possible. He sees right through me. I can't be like this in front of him. He can tell how I feel about him, I know he can! I've just got to make it seem like I'm not thinking about anything important. Just...the waterfall! I'll think about the waterfall! she thought anxiously to herself. As they padded toward what Nicolae called the "Copse", she kept turning her head slightly to take in the majesty of this beautiful, rushing water. Think about the waterfall. Think about the... She stopped thinking about the waterfall. She couldn't take it anymore! She had to know what Nicolae felt about her! But how?

Nicolae sensed a slight frustration in Willow's attitude. It didn't seem to be anything upsetting or serious, but she just seemed a bit jittery to him. And she'd been looking pretty deep in thought for the last few moments. Her pretty eyes seemed a bit distracted (If that's okay). He continued walking. His tail waved nonchallantly and he gazed at the she-cat, noticing once more the uniqueness of her fur. He wasn't stupid enough to not realize he had feelings for this strange cat. The way his mind wandered to her already was proof enough of that. He just wasn't the type to say it out loud. He preferred it to be found out. So he just went on his way, closed his eyes and listened to the gurgling of water get louder and louder. When he opened his eyes, homely familiar forest was around him. "The Copse, my friend!" Nicolae meowed, upon reaching the stream that led to his territory once crossed. The trees were tall, and thick underbrush appeared everywhere. The stream wasn't terribly large, but it was wide enough to have to wade through. Luckily, Nicolae had quickly found a path of stones upon first arriving moons ago. They were only just under the water so that your paws got wet, but that was all. The light ginger tom looked back for Willow, and motioned across the stream. "Once across this creek, we reach your home," he grinned. "It's a good thing I like you so much. It's actually pretty unlikely for me to offer up my territory like this. I've never invited a cat into my home. You'll be the first. Although, whenever you want to come back, it's fine with me. I guess I've just taken a shine to you." He spoke matter-of-factly, but there was a teasing murmur under his words. He looked at Willow, then the water to find his special crossing place.

"It's beautiful, Nicolae! I would kill to live here! My old barn is nothing compared to this copse! I love it! It's a perfect spot to tell you....." she stopped quickly. I almost just revealed my secret! How could I do that? Wait a minute.... she stopped mid-think. He said he took a shine to me! He feels the same way! Do I come out and say it? What do I do? The argument went on in Willow's head for quite some time until one side got the better of her. I'm going to tell him. I have to tell him. He feels the same, I know he does. He has to know!

"I know, isn't it?" Nicolae nodded in agreement at the Copse being beautiful, then: "Perfect spot to tell me what?" Nicolae meowed. He was still looking at the water, and before giving Willow a chance to talk, he shouted, "There!" Smooth gray smudges could slightly be seen beneath the surface of the stream. The rocks to cross on. He padded toward them, and stepped on the first one. Cold water parted ways around his paws to continue its downstream flow. "It's really simple. The rocks aren't too far apart, and all you have to do is step on them. They are a little slippery, though, so watch your step." Nicolae swiftly made it across the stream, used to crossing almost every day, and gestured for Willow to cross. He would keep his eyes on her paws, to help make sure she didn't slip.

"Nothing...forget it..." She couldn't tell him. He obviously didn't want to listen. As carefully as she could, she reached out one of her front paws and stepped onto the rock ever so lightly. Before she knew it, she was hopping the rocks like she never had before and made it across without any trouble. He seems distracted. I think maybe I'll tell him later. Unless he tells me. But he won't tell me! I know he won't come out and say something like that! But he DID say he took a shining to me. She couldn't help thinking about the situation. It was all she could focus on.

"Impressive!" Nicolae exclaimed as Willow bounded over the rocks. "Even I sometimes find myself slip." Nicolae was impressed with Willow's agility. At least she's not some petty she-cat afraid to wet her paws..! He thought to himself with a grin. "Now there's not far to go at all. Just following this track leads to my humble den. And we better hurry. I can almost feel my fur frosting over." He gave a little shiver and trotted on, not even stopping to shake the water clinging to his paws. He could almost scent the welcoming smell of his warm den on the breeze. His flowing ginger tail gave a flick and he thought of Willow again. How amazing it was to feel such a strong attraction to a virtual stranger. Was this what his mother'd talked about before, as if they were made for each other? It was an interesting thought, and Nicolae almost couldn't doubt it was true. He really liked Willow. And for the first time a thought slithered into his head. What if she doesn't like me? Nicolae had never been worried about that before. He didn't want to start now. He wasn't that type of cat. He didn't care what others thought. But I care what Willow thinks...

"Why, thank you! I've been over a couple of rivers in my day!" she replied with a light-hearted tone, "I can't wait to see your den! I'm nearly frozen myself!" she padded after Nicolae, keeping a steady pace behind him. She could almost feel the warmth coming off of his cozy den. I can't wait until we get there. Then I can finally reveal my secret! she thought, without a doubt in her head. She WOULD tell him when they arrived at the den. Then she would feel much better. He needed to know. The closer they got, the more excited Willow felt until she felt she might burst from excitement. She padded into the den after Nicolae and felt the warmth of the den spread over her body until she was as warm as she had been before she left her barn.

Upon reaching the den, Nicolae sniffed around, making sure everything was in order and no other cats had stopped by. Then he went to his pile of moss and hay in the corner. He leaned down and tore some of it out with his teeth, carrying it toward Willow for her to form a nest out of. "It's a little too late to get more or fresher stuff, so I hope this'll do." He meowed, flipping one ear back apologetically. Once that was done, he took a deep breath and plopped into his own nest, stretching his paws over the edges in relaxation and wrapping his tail around his side. The ferns hanging over the den's entrance swished slowly in the night breeze, and he almost felt as if he could already fall asleep. But he wanted to know more about Willow. Dropping his head on his arms, he purred, "so I know you used to be a kittypet. But what else? Have you ever been exploring? Did you have any family? What do you want to do above anything else?" His questions seemed to leap effortlessly from his mouth and he was hardly aware of the process of thinking of them. He was curious to know whatever Willow knew and didn't care about much else at the moment.

Doing as Nicolae did, she settled down and replied, "Wow, okay, let me see...I DID try exploring when I was in my twolegs' backyard. I met a lot of other cats in the other nests, especially this cat named Barley. He was quite friendly and we were friends for quite a while, but then him and his twolegs' moved away and I never saw him again, unfortunately. I didn't really have any family that I knew. My parents abandoned me and I never saw them again, so, I've always been a loner in a way. And, I'm not really sure what I want to do, but it would probably have to be finding one cat that I could really communicate with and be very open with." Willow tried to hint her feelings for Nicolae in that last sentence, but wasn't sure if he would get the hint or not, so she decided not to take it any further. "So, Nicolae, tell me about yourself."

"Well, it sounds like Barley came pretty close to being the 'special cat'..." Nicolae commented, but with a note in his voice that sounded almost as if he was asking a question: Were you mates?. He repositioned himself in his nest, flipping over on his side while keeping his head straight. "Ah, I was a kittypet at one time. Decided it wasn't for me, ran away. Before they had time to 'change' me, thankfully. Speaking of which," Nicolae narrowed his eyes curiously, "You haven't been changed, have you? Unnatural and disturbing of them, I say." Nicolae couldn't help but think that any cat that'd been altered wouldn't be able to fully enjoy life like a 'real' cat. Plus, cats that'd undergone that operation usually got fat, and Willow didn't strike him as heavy. Nicolae remembered Yukon, the tom, yet not-tom he'd met a few moons ago. The cat had been large, its stomach reaching the ground, and its thick tail short and stocky. When Nicolae had conversed, he'd found the scent of the cat was strangely that of a female and tom at the same time, both canceling the other out and creating a whole new scent that smelled of blandness and nothing. The experience had disturbed Nicolae, and he'd left quite soon after the meeting. With fervor, Nicolae found himself hoping Willow hadn't gone through such a terror.

"Thankfully, I ran away before my twolegs got a chance for the cutter to lay a paw on me. I would never go through that kind of torture. But, yes, about Barley, I thought he might be the one who I would want to be my special cat, but, there was just something about him that didn't attract me to him. He was not as open and he could never understand me very well. He said I was a very complex cat. True, he was quite fun to be around, but, I knew once I got to know him, he wasn't what I thought he was. I sometimes think I have found that special cat, but I'm still not sure." she replied with a flicker in her eye. She wondered if her reply would make him get the hint, or if she was coming on too strongly. Maybe I should just come out and tell him!

Nicolae wondered if Willow was talking about him, or some other cat. She seemed to be hoping for something, hinting, but Nicolae wasn't sure if it was what he hoped it was. "Good. I'm glad you haven't been to the vet. The horrors Twolegs create never cease to amaze me." He meowed, feeling relief. "I'm sure Barley was a fine cat. But anyone who just gives up such a pretty she-cat like you, basing it on your being 'complex' needs to go for a swim. If I had such an opportunity, I'd not let it go." He grinned. He hadn't talked so contentedly with a cat for a long time. And this conversation seemed to be a playing field. Both hiding something from the other. Whether or not the secret was the same secret for both was unknown. Nicolae didn't keep much secrets, and this was one he'd ordinarily tell as soon as possible. But he'd held off, not knowing if Willow had a mate already. How awkward that would be!
