Frostpaw slid out from the apprentice's den, his ears pricked with curiosity. The pale moon hung high in the sky and the stars twinkled through the canopy above as the cream tom crept towards the entrance of the camp. Hoping not to be noticed, he pressed his fur to the edges of the leafy walls surrounding the clearing. He was only a fox-length from the tunnel when a loud snap came from beneath his paws. He looked down to see a broken twig under his paw and he cringed. So much for my cover... he thought to himself.

Orange ears flicked up at the sound of the little bit of wood. Lilypaw was easily taken from her light sleep by such an intriguing sound, and moved quickly and quietly to go outside. She had a bit of trouble getting over the sleeping apprentices around her, as they were all much bigger than she. Used to navigating the nursery by dark, which she had done until her recent ceremony, she misjudged several times and nearly woke up a could of other cats. When she finally reached the outside, she spotted Frostpaw, staring at a twig beneath his paw. So the sound had come from there. Lilypaw had been sneaking out for ages, and was good at not making a sound - ever since she'd gotten out of the medicine cat's den, she'd woken up very early morning after morning to slip out for a run. "Frostpaw," she said, her voice quiet as the rustle of leaves in the breeze.

The apprentice froze. I'm dead, he thought as he heard another cat enter the clearing. However, as soon as he turned, Frostpaw calmed almost instantly. Lilypaw wouldn't turn him in for sneaking out. He padded silently over to his friend, "Hello, Lilypaw." He forced a shaky smile to his lips and let his fur lie flat. "I'm glad to see you." His skin felt hot with embarrassment.

"Glad it's not a warrior, right? Where are you headed and can I come?" She smiled, hoping that Frostpaw wouldn't mind her intrusion. They were good friends, so she supposed not. Nevertheless, she looked for signs of disappointment. Now that she was up she was completely alert, awake, and ready for action. Immediately upon opening her eyes, Lilypaw's energy level had spiked, and she hoped Frostpaw was out for a nighttime adventure. Besides, what better a companion? She enjoyed talking to her playmate, more and more recently. Her paws itched to move - she was so used to waking up for early runs that her body craved movement as soon as it rose from the land of dreams.

"Yeh. I'm definately glad it wasn't a warrior..." Frostpaw let out a windy sigh and looked up at the moon. The night had just begun for him and he wasn't about to waste it. "I was going to go practice hunting and climbing trees. I've been working on this maneuver that would be really good against enemy cats. Wanna join me?" He hoped that she'd say yes. Lately it seemed that he enjoyed her company more and more. However, a thought jabbed at his side like a thorn. I'm going to be amedicine cat, I can't love her...

Caracalpaw looked at the two for a moment, then padded up to Frostpaw. "Can I hunt with you two?" Caracalpaw meowed, sitting down at a distance. "The freshkill pile's nearly empty, and Sunfeather needs to see my work at hunting improve before my final asessment." Caracalpaw felt a tinge of worry that they would reject her. Still some cats looked down upon her because of her past as a kittypet. But after all, she had given up the horrible life. She didn't always understand why being a kittypet changed a cat so much from being a warrior. As her thoughts pranced around her head, she waited patiently for an answer.

Lilypaw turned to say yes to her friend, hoping to enjoy the night with him. She felt nothing but pure friendship for him, not knowing about the love buried inside her, waiting to surface. She was too young for love. She opened her mouth to purr out acceptance to the offer when another voice cut through the darkness. Another apprentice had woken up, and wanted to come. Lilypaw wanted badly to say no; she would have preferred to just hang out with her favorite playmate. But Caracalpaw was also nice, and there was no way Lilypaw could turn her down without the other taking offense and everyone thinking Lilypaw hated the cat because of her kittypet roots. Which she did, of course, so she forced herself to await Frostpaw's response.

Caracalpaw noticed a certain look in Lilypaw's eyes. She was very good at reading eyes, but she couldn't tell here. Though it was mostly obvious. "It's alright, I can probably go hunt on my own anyways." Caracalpaw meowed kindly with a smile. "It'll be better for my focus, anyways. You two have fun now." Caracalpaw smiled and dipped her head and turned away, padding out of camp, holding her tail up high, trying to make it convincing that she wasn't upset.

Lilypaw's eyes widened in worry, though a tiny bit of relief flared as well. She liked Caracalpaw, and now the other apprentice would hate her. And it would be all her fault. How could she be so stupid? And it was idiotic of her; she should have hidden her emotions better. Now it would worry her the whole time that she was with Frostpaw hunting. She looked at her paws, thoroughly ashamed. The rudeness of looking at another cat like that... and it was pretty clear that Caracalpaw was upset; Lilypaw was also good at telling what another cat thought. She wanted to call out to the other apprentice, but warriors would wake up if she did. Or was that just her mind's excuse? She looked at Frostpaw, deciding to do whatever the older medicine cat apprentice did.

Hazelstrike stired in her nest. She was having a bit of trouble sleeping, so she decided to to go out into the clearing and gaze up at the moon for a bit. As she sat up, she positioned herself in a long stretch, then padded out of the warriors den, only to find three apprentices sneaking out of the camp! She raced over to Frostpaw, Lilypaw, and Caracalpaw. "What do you three think you're doing?" she hissed, "You're not supposed to leave the camp! Are you three mouse-brained? You're lucky I'm not going to report this to Skystar! Now, get back in the apprentices' den! I don't want to see or hear you sneaking out again, is that clear?"

OOC: Meh. Sorry. >_<
IC: Frostpaw froze. More cats? This wasn't at all what he had hoped for. The white apprentice's heart sank; would he ever get time to himself? While the other's were preoccupied, he tapped Lilypaw's shoulder and signalled to the camp entrance. Lets go, he mouthed to his friend before turning and sneaking noiselessly into the bracken tunnel. Silently, he waited in the tunnel for his friend to arrive.
